In Xi’an, photovoltaic panels atop ebm‑papst’s factory roofs are converting sunlight into clean energy of electricity, powering production and advancing the plant’s sustainability goals. The first phase of the PV system was already meeting nearly 21% of the plant’s energy demand by October 2024. In May 2025, the second phase added 2,594 panels with 1,595 kWp capacity.
Together, both phases now supply half of the plant’s electricity, and the Xi’an plant has been honored with the “National Green Factory” designation, setting a regional benchmark for sustainable operations.
In parallel, ebm‑papst’s Shanghai plant is also using the clean energy of solar photovoltaic panels, which cover roughly 15% of the plant’s electricity. What’s more, all remaining electrical power consumption of ebm‑papst in China is green energy, with no CO₂ emissions, due to international green certificates of origin for 2024 and 2025.
In recognition of its leadership in ESG practices, including organizational and product carbon footprint disclosure, sustainable initiatives, and the issuance of its sustainability report, ebm‑papst received the 2024 ESG Best Practice Award from Sungrow.
Thomas Nuernberger, Chief Sales Officer of ebm‑papst Group, President & CEO Air Technology APAC & MEA, said: “Sustainability is not a short-term initiative but a long-term relay. Through solar power, intelligent energy-saving technologies, and sustainable supply chain practices, we reduce our own footprint while helping customers and partners advance toward a more efficient, low-carbon, and intelligent future.”
